He’s been with us for so long. But as it happens, fans must let go of that one character we grew with from the start.
On Tuesday, Henry Ian Cusick who played Kane on The 100, announced on Twitter that he is saying ‘ta-ta’ to his character.
“All things end and that was Kane’s,” Cusick wrote. “Thanks to JRothenbergTV and all the cast crew writers directors of #the100 but especially to you #kabby and #kane supporters, your passion and support over the years has been truly wonderful and I love you guys for that! May we meet again X.”
Considering that Kane’s consciousness got moved into a new body and Abby said her farewells, it’s not too much of a surprise that the character would go. But still, it’s never easy to say goodbye to someone who was there at the beginning.
Jason Rothenberg, the creator of The 100, revealed on Twitter that he knew audience members would get emotional. But what would a good TV show be without some pain?
“I know some people are upset by the end of tonight’s episode, but there’s a place for tragedy on TV. That’s what this was. And what the show has always been,” he wrote. “I know it hurts. That’s the point. If it’s not your cup of tea, I get that too. Be well. #the100”
Every great show has a character who dies at some point. It’s tragic, but the story must have those hard moments to make the show what it is.
